 November 10th, 2013: Today  TOMBOUKTOU´S AMAZZAL (Django/ Imp.Burkina Faso x Takute´ al Ifriqiya) whelped a littter of four, heavy and very vital puppies. One red/fawn male, two brindled females and a red/fawn female.

 The litter is sired by AGG AMAIAS FEHED (Multi-Ch. Bastien´s Wanjala x Ch.Tagola / Imp. Mali),  a really typical, red male, who combines an excellent conformation without any exaggeration with a balanced character. Besides this, the high performance level as well as the showsuccess of his parents gives a great perspective to the future potential of this still young male. This litter has a low COI of 4,57 %  calculated from 10 generations. Both, the sire as well as the dam have one desertbred parent, imported from the country of origin. So the puppies have  50 % of genetic "input in the ancestry, which can not be traced back to the classic foundation lines of the breed in Europe. The other half of the ancestors descend from the part of classic European breeding lines, which I prefer.

The goal of Tombouktou's Azawakh is to breed dogs which evoke, through an appearance at once elegant and ascetic, the type of dogs belonging to Africa's Sahelian savannah: the authentic idi of the Kel Tamasheq.  While avoiding over-stylized physical characteristics, to breed for dogs which display stable,balanced temperaments who can be reliably called upon to perform the characteristic functions of the breed: the passion of the chase and the fearlessness of the guardian.  In the raising of puppies I try to provide positive and correct conditions which lay the foundation for proper further socialization; puppies are raised inside the house, have free access to the dog run, and are closely attached to me as I go about the duties of my daily life. They are not isolated from other animals, in fact they are raised by the whole "pack" of older Azawakh as well as cats!  Daily walks (both on and off leash), biking, exercises on the race-track...these are as much a part of their lives as relaxing on the sofa or taking a sun-bath in the dog run.  My Azawakh are both pets and companions who pass the days with me and enrich my life. 

I hope for and expect similar living conditions in the homes of the puppies I place.  For me placing a puppy is so much more than a commercial transaction.  I am looking for people who can share a similar approach to the raising of Azawakh.
